Do yall use natural lump charcoal or Kingsford? Is there really a difference in flavor? I've always used Kingsford. HEB just started carrying natural lump charcoal but it's a little more expensive.

Are you grilling or smoking? If smoking, you should use lump charcoal to get your wood started, then cook with the wood....if you are grilling, I like lump because it does not impart any odors like Kinsford or the other briquet types do...plus, when you cut off the air supply to lump, it will stop burning and you can reuse it on your next grilling adventure. When I bought my stainless Hasty Bake 15 years ago, they gave me a bag of their lump and I have been so satisfied with it that I have not used anything other than that blackened wood since.

I'm smoking. I'll try lump charcoal next time if I can find a bag.

Most of the HEBs have it now. Just wanted to see what the difference was before I bought any.
